The Vinyl Frontier
My first experiences listening to music may have been on cassettes (I really can’t remember), but the earliest memories I have of listening to recorded music are of vinyl. We had a sweet GE Show ‘n Tell record player that would also play these weird slide filmstrips that came with some story records. I listened to kids’ records on that, but also remember combing through my parents’ record collection to find gems like “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and The 5th Dimension.
To this day, I collect records (I just got a David Bazan 7” in the mail today), even though I rarely listen to them. I have to think the Show ‘n Tell has something to do with this.
